An inspiring talk by Rob Hopkins “My Town in Transition” video.
Rob Hopkins is the author of “The Transition Companion: Making Your Community More Resilient in Uncertain Times”
I love it when he says:
…let’s be more brilliant than we have ever been…
In case you missed it, like I did here’s Rob Hopkins talking about the ‘Transition to a world without oil.’
Rob Hopkins writing is positive and thought-provoking on the Transition Culture website and the following books:
Costa Georgiadis describes the influence of his family on his love of gardening. I love the example of the old people’s home next to the school garden and the potential interactions between the two. Costa reminds us that there is no such thing as rubbish – we need to think of it as resource recovery.
He ends his inspiring talk with the beautiful quote:
“The joy is not in things, it is in you… “
A vegetable garden can do more than save you money — it can save the world. Roger Doiron, founder of Kitchen Gardeners International (a network of home gardeners) shows how gardens can re-localize our food and feed our growing population.
There’s a few light hearted moments.
